In-Flight Freshness: How to Avoid the Post-Flight “Ick”

Long flights often leave us feeling a bit worn, but there’s no need to succumb to the “ick” factor when it comes to your clothes. With a few savvy strategies, you can stay sanitary and fresh, even when you have to wear those same clothes for the rest of the day or throughout your trip. Let’s explore some tips to ensure you step off the plane feeling as refreshed as possible.

  1. Travel-Sized Sanitizer Spray: Pack a travel-sized sanitizer spray to give your clothes a quick refresh. A light mist on your clothing can help neutralize odors and give you a sense of cleanliness. Look for a sanitizer with a pleasant scent to add a touch of freshness.
  2. Dress in Layers: Consider wearing an outer layer that’s specifically reserved for the plane ride. A lightweight jacket or a stylish cardigan can serve as a barrier between your body and the airplane seat, reducing direct contact with any lingering germs.
  3. Tide Stain Remover Pens: Stains can happen, especially during travel. Equip yourself with a Tide stain remover pen. This handy tool can quickly tackle small stains, ensuring your clothes stay looking fresh and clean throughout your journey.
  4. Moisturizing Wipes & Deodorant: Pack a few moisturizing wipes in your carry-on. Use them to freshen up your face, neck, and hands during the flight. While not a replacement for a shower, it can make you feel more put together. Also, the long flight day is not the day to forget your deodorant (your clothes and other passengers will thank you)! In order to be able to keep wearing your clothes, during your trip, you need to ensure you don’t forget to keep in mind your own hygiene.
  5. Choose Breathable Fabrics: Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen for your travel outfit. These materials allow your skin to breathe, reducing the likelihood of feeling sticky or uncomfortable during the flight.
  6. Change Your Undergarments: If your flight is particularly long, consider changing into a fresh set of undergarments before landing. This simple act can make you feel instantly rejuvenated.
  7. Wrinkle Spray is Your Friend: We don’t go on any trip without our handy travel-sized bottle of wrinkle spray. Sitting for long periods of time (and of course squeezing your clothes in your luggage) is bound to cause wrinkles to your clothes. A quick spritz and your wrinkles fade (or vanish completely depending on the fabric). Plus, it smells nice so you feel like your clothes just came out of the dryer versus an 8 hour flight.

With a bit of strategic planning and a few key items in your travel arsenal, you can step off the plane feeling clean, fresh, and ready to take on your destination. From sanitizer spray to stain removers, these small additions to your travel routine can make a significant difference in how you feel during and after your flight. Safe and stylish travels!
